Whitney Allen
What did you want to be when you were 5? And really…what kid actually gets to be the astronaut, rockstar, explorer, or radio host?!? Whitney Allen, that’s who! Her parents bought her a red transistor radio (that she slept with under her pillow every night) and adopted her first cat, Thomasina (who slept with her every night.) That’s when she knew, it was radio or animals. Since she was better at talking than biology, she knew she was going to be on the radio. So at the age of 5, she set out to make it BIG.
Six nights a week, Whitney hangs out and occasionally…ok, often, harasses listeners and artists and of course her own team. She gives a lot of credit to the chaotic team behind her, because The Big Time is too BIG for one person to handle. It really takes listeners, artists, music and a dream team to make Whitney’s dream come to life nightly.
Through her years behind the mic playing Country Music, Whitney has won “National Personality of the Year’ at the Radio Music Awards, been nominated multiple times for both the ACM and CMA National Personality of the year, won a Gracie Award for “Crisis Coverage” for one of the darkest days in country music, the Route 91 tragedy and in 2022 was deeply honored with her induction into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.
When she’s not on the radio, or backstage at the biggest country concerts, Whitney loves the outdoors, redecorating, napping, and Mexico. Her furry kids, Leela, Ramon, Bixby “The Bird” (who is actually a dog) and Renault-International Cat of Mystery , But Mattie, Paloma, Flue and Chakita, Luna, Winchmore and so many others live forever in her heart. Whitney also volunteers for “Leave No Paws Behind” an organization that focuses on fostering elderly and health challenged dogs who have been abandoned by their owners AND assisting other owners who want to keep, but cannot afford the medical costs that often come with fulfilling your promise to your elderly dog. Her foster dogs Angelica, Pudgie La Roo, had a welcome in Whitney’s home as did the four 3 week old bottle fed kittens who now work as emotional support cats in a home for older adults.
