Hear ye, hear ye! Lords and ladies, children of the realm and their friends are invited to attend the Annual Old Europe Renaissance Festival at the Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum grounds. The festival is scheduled for Sunday, October, 13th from 10 AM – 5 PM. Featured will be a variety of food, drink, crafts, music and dance celebrating the countries with ties to the Boal family: Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Scotland and Ireland.
Tour the lovely 42 acres in an open carriage drawn by David Hershey’s award winning percheron team. Listen to music by the Little German Band, Callanish Celtic Band and the fiddling of Bruce Young. Enjoy folk dancing by the Central Pa Dance Workshop, Tir Na Nog Irish Dance Troupe, belly dancing by the Black Cat studio with Shannon Bishop. Experience authentic medieval fighting and fencing by the local chapter of the SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism). Have a locally-brewed beverage, a Centre County made sweet, stroll the tree lined grounds and get a jump start on your holiday shopping with a wide variety of local crafts people. Try your hand at 15th century wood working skills, watch felting and pottery demonstrations, buy your lady a head wreath and try a folk dance. You may even get a chance to pet a unicorn!
The festivities take place on Sunday, October 13th, 10 am through 5 p.m. on the Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum grounds, 163 Boal Avenue, Boalsburg. Admission is free, however the $5.00 per car parking fee benefits the Museum and supports the live entertainment.
